R. Rajesh BDS, MDS, Associate professor and
department-in-charge of the department of
pediatric dentistry, Sree Mookambika Institute
of Dental Sciences, Kulasekharam, Tamil Nadu,
heads this section in TDSG. Working with children
for the past 8 years he has many national
and international publications, presentations
and research works to his credit. He is very
popular for his delicate but firm approach
with child patients.
All
aspects of children's dentistry are undertaken,
with particular emphasis again placed on prevention
and oral hygiene, with correct usage of fluorides
and early application of fissure sealants.
Early applications of fissure sealants help
prevent the degradation of teeth. Constant
preventive, interceptive and therapeutic care
is required via, pit & fissure sealants,
space maintainers, fillings, pulpal therapies,
stainless steel crowns etc to lay down the
foundation of a healthy dentition and oro-facial
complex.

dentistry in treating deciduous and young
permanent teeth is of great value.
